To help you answer some of your questions, we have prepared a list of Frequently Asked Questions.
1. How do I make a booking? Can I change the date after a booking?
We can handle everything by email (sevenstarboat@yahoo.com), from booking your fishing trip, to your hotel, and pick-up from the airport. Once you have confirmed your booking with us, any changes thereafter will be subject to availability.
2. How do I make the payment?
Once you have made your booking with us through email, or by cellphone, (Leonard 6019 820 9322, Steven 6019 810 3689), you will asked to pay to deposit to be banked into our account. The balance of the amount can be paid by cash when you arrive.
While we can help you book your hotel or resort, you will have to make payment to them when you arrive. We do not provide accommodations, all we can do is arrange your booking for you.
3. Who decides where to go fishing? How do you decide where to go?
Where we go depends on the length of your trip. The longer your trip, the further we will go out to sea. To land the really big ones, we have to go to deeper waters. But no matter how long your trip is, you can be assured of good fishing.
4. How long would the best fishing trip be? And how much would it cost?
Although we would normally suggest 3 days and 2 nights, we encourage you to fish for 5 days and 4 nights or 4 days and 3 nights. This gives us enough time to go to deep waters, and explore where the best catches can be found. Again, the further out to sea we go, the larger the catch would be.
The cost will depend on the duration of your trip. Email us and we will provide a better answer.
5. What do we do with the fishes we have caught?
The deckhands will clean your catch for you and put them on ice. Once we get ashore, we will freeze your catch and package them for your flight home. You can also have our cook prepare the fishes you have caught with your favorite recipe.
6. Can the fishes we have caught be brought on the airplane?
We would recommend you fly with Malaysia Airlines, as they will allow you up to 20-25 kilograms of luggage. That means you can bring more of your catch back with you.
If you fly Air Asia, they will only allow you to hand carry up to 7 kilograms of fish. You could take more but you will be asked to pay. Air Asia does not allow you to put fish as check-in luggage.
7. Can we spend a day or two sightseeing in Kota Kinabalu after our fishing trip?
Sure, you can go sight-seeing before or after your fishing trip. It is up to you to book when you want to head out to sea to fish. We will still arrange for your transport to and from the airport.
8. Where do we stay while we are in Kota Kinabalu? Can we choose the hotel to stay in?
You can select any hotel or resort in Kota Kinabalu city for your trip, as you might want to do some sight-seeing and shopping while you are here. If you want, we can help you do the hotel booking for you. We do not charge for this service, and any payment is strictly between you and the hotel.
9. Where do we embark and disembark from the 7 Star Fishing Charter boat?
We embark and disembark from the jetty behind the central market in Kota Kinabalu city. This is where the fishing boats berth, and where the fish market is located.
10. Do you pick up and send your guests to the airport?
Yes, as part of our service, we try to remove as much hassle as we can to make your trip enjoyable. Just let us know by email, or cellphone when your flight is.
11. What fishing gear do we need to bring? Can we rent?
You are encourage to bring your own fishing rod and gear, while we will provide the bait and everything else. If you cannot bring your gear, we will rent our gear to you at RM 150.00 per set. You won’t be disappointed with our gear for sure.
